VIRTUS Diocesan Program
The VIRTUS® programs assist the Church in being a safe haven for children and a messenger for preventing child sexual abuse within the Church and society in general. St. Mary of the Angels seeks to achieve this goal through the Diocese of Gallup child sexual abuse prevention program: Protecting God’s Children®. All volunteers at St. Mary of the Angels are required to attend VIRTUS training which is available online through the Diocese of Gallup. Safe Environment
Promise to Protect
St. Mary of the Angels and the Catholic Diocese of Gallup are engaged in an ongoing effort to create and maintain a safe environment for children, and to protect children from all types of abuse including sexual abuse. As part of this effort, St. Mary of the Angels Religious Education will provide the Touching Safety Program on January 10, 2024. This program was created by the same people who created the Protecting God’s Children program, which all teachers are required to attend.
The Diocese of Gallup is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all who live and worship in our diocese. The Diocesan Safe Environment Office is tasked with ensuring the implementation of the Policy and Procedures and with supporting our Parish with their mission to provide a safe environment for children and youth.
