Religious Education K-12
Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels Religious Education Program. Our mission is to help our children strengthen their relationship with Jesus through a variety of faith-sharing and educational programs. Our faith is the most precious gift we have to give to our children. For our children to accept and be nourished by the teachings of our Church, we must be directly involved in teaching our faith to our children. Simply put, encouraging our children by living our faith through prayer, Mass, and example.
Information from the Bishop (Diocese of Gallup):
Bishop Wall advises the preparation of the Sacraments should be incorporated into the Religious Education programs as a continuum of faith education. The routine schedule for celebration of the Sacraments will be after the first of each year through May. Bishop Wall recommends beginning the instruction during the prior school years and using the Fall period before the event as a time of final preparation, rehearsals, and make-up sessions, when needed. In this way the candidates can be properly prepared when the new year arrives.
Example: The catechesis for the 2025 celebration of the Sacraments should begin Fall of 2023 and continue into the Spring of 2025 to conclude the preparations.
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist will take place at the same liturgy and will continue to be celebrated by Bishop Wall or a designated Vicar General.
What does this mean?
Any eligible catechesis requiring the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation will not receive the Sacraments until 2025.

Class Cancellation:
Inclement weather, by its very nature, is highly unpredictable. Making decisions about the welfare of students and staff is a significant responsibility – one that is always made with safety as the highest priority. The decision to cancel classes is based on careful analysis of all relevant factors such as:
- Information on road conditions. We must give careful consideration to the most dangerous roads in the area. Even if your street looks clear, travel elsewhere may be dangerous.
- Amount of snow and ice accumulated.
- Precipitation timeframe.
- Weather predictions. We prefer not making decisions based on weather predictions, which are not always accurate. But sometimes this is unavoidable.
- Blue Ridge School District decision to close the school.
